This Tutorial was written in PSP8 but can be done just as easily in Version 7
Using the same settings.
Right click and save these tiles to your hard drive
They can be colourised to suit your needs or you can use your own tiles
Open a new canvas size W468 x H60
Floodfill with the first tile.
Selections > Select All > Modify > contract by 4
Floodfill with the plain tile.
Selections > Modify > contract by 4
Floodfill with the same patterned tile as before
Using your magic wand tool > Select the plain area between the patterns
Add a new raster layer
Apply a cutout using these settings (make sure you apply it to the new blank layer)
Using your text tool > Floating checked > size around 28
write the name of your site or group. (Try and keep the font fairly simple. I used Enviro for the site name and Arial for the URL)
Promote the floating selection to a new layer and move into place on the left hand
side of your banner.
Add a drop shadow using these settings
Reduce the size of your text to about 8 and change the font to Arial
Type the URL to your site
Promote the floating selection to a new layer and move into place on the left hand side
under your Site name.
Using your Selection Tool > Rectangle
Select an area on the right hand side of the middle section of your banner
Add a new layer
Floodfill this with your 2nd patterned tile. Move into place with the mover tool.
Reduce the opacity on this layer to around 40 or whatever look you prefer.
Text Tool > Font Arial > Size 8 > Floating checked > Bold
Write something short and descriptive about your site. Try and keep it to a maximum of
about 6 words
Promote the floating selection to a layer and move into the middle of the new patterned
layer you have just made.
I lowered the opacity on this layer to 60 but you don't have to, you can leave it as it is
Merge visible
And Voila
You have a banner to advertise and promote your Site
